Through many years of experience cooking for people, I have witnessed the profound affect diet can have on an individual. It can be used for health and healing or lead to further imbalance and dis-ease. Ayurveda is an eastern medicine system that teaches how to use food as medicine and how to use the qualities in the food to balance the qualities in an individual, who may have very different needs than another. Through cooking and eating “Ayurvedically” we seek balance and health for our bodies and minds.
What we eat forms the tissues of our bodies and affects our mental state, mind and emotions. What we eat also speaks to our soul, our pleasure center, our enjoyment of life. I love to cook food that nourishes body and mind and feeds the soul’s need for richness and pleasure in life. I practice no set dogma with diet (not even Ayurveda) but believe in wholesome, real food, fresh food as local as possible, food with nourishment and integrity that is beautifully and lovingly prepared, made to digest and assimilate well and nourish the body.

Vital Ayurveda will plan the menu and prepare the food around the needs of the group or the retreat. Our specialty is balancing the meals Ayurvedically to benefit all individual constitutions, the seasonal and climate influences and giving a presentation to the participants of the highlighted health benefits of their meal. We specialize in Ayurvedic cooking but do not have to remain within the confines of Ayurveda, we are passionate about all wholesome, beautiful, delicious food.

Cooking classes are a wonderful way for people to anchor in the experience of cooking as well as the health principles of Ayurveda. We offer Ayurvedic Cooking classes for groups and individuals. Classes are usually 3 hours plus time to sit and enjoy the meal created.
The individual classes cooking classes can be 1-5 people and are designed around the needs and interest of the individual or group.
Group classes can be 6+ people focused on a topic of Ayurveda or health that varies according to the season, or requests of the group. Example topics and menus can be found below. Classes are part lecture on our health topic and very interactive with questions, discussions and hands on cooking and eating.

Diet can be such a vital part of a healing program and it can be intimidating to undergo a diet change especially when preparing your own food. I have seen first hand what a supportive role the food serves in healing and I prepare and deliver food to meet the individual’s needs and preferences.
Each person responds to diet differently based upon their body chemistry, their digestive power, their culture, their personality and I like to help guide people using Ayurvedic principles and based in their own experience of their bodies, to eat food that increases their vitality and love of life.
